Chapter thirty five

Author POV-

The SUV hummed down the tree-lined road, windows half-open to let in the soft afternoon breeze. Inside, chaos had already begun.

"Lucas, stop touching my bow!" Bella screeched.

"I'm just checking if it’s on tight!" Lucas retorted, though he had definitely been trying to untie it.

“Touch her bow again and you’re walking to the zoo,” Domino growled, shoving Lucas’s head lightly.

“I didn’t sign up to be harassed by glitter!” Marco muttered, pulling at the soft pink shirt Bella had picked out for them all.

“It’s not harassment,” Enzo said cheerfully, adjusting his matching pink tie. “It’s love. Let’s just enjoy it.”

Aris, seated in the front beside Leon, turned slightly to glance back at them. “Focus. We are going to give her the best date she’s ever had. And that means no arguing. Lucas, stop sulking. Domino, don’t threaten anyone.”

Leon was gripping the wheel like it was the only thing keeping him alive. “You sure you want to go to the zoo with these six?”

“I’d rather face a lion,” he muttered.

Behind him, Bella sat in the middle, legs swinging, eyes shining.

“I feel like a princess,” she whispered.

“You are a princess,” Aris replied without hesitation. “Now tell us what you want to do first.”

She beamed. “Lions.”

Stop 1: The Zoo

The zoo had never known such chaos.

Bella held Aris’s hand as they walked past the giraffes, trailed closely by Domino, who constantly scanned the surroundings like a paranoid bodyguard. Lucas and Enzo were arguing about whether the flamingos were real or animatronic. Marco had found a bench and was furiously sketching a monkey that was suspiciously flipping him off.

But Bella didn’t care. She was glowing — literally skipping beside Aris, occasionally tugging on his sleeve.

“They’re so tall!” she gasped at the giraffes.

Aris nodded solemnly. “Almost as tall as Domino.”

“Rude,” Domino grumbled.

When they reached the lions, Bella’s eyes went wide.

“They’re… so fluffy!” she whispered in awe.

“Dangerously fluffy,” Lucas said, pulling her back slightly. “What if one jumps?”

“They’re in a cage, genius,” Marco said.

“They can leap. Have you seen documentaries? I’ve seen documentaries!”

Enzo, ever the entertainer, whispered, “Hey Bella, if you roar at them, they might roar back.”

“Really?!”

Before anyone could stop her, Bella stepped forward and shouted, “ROARRRRR!!”

The lions blinked.

One yawned.

The entire family froze.

Then Bella laughed. “He’s shy.”

Aris bent down and whispered, “Just like Adam, I bet.”

Bella blushed.

All the brothers simultaneously turned toward Aris with accusing looks.

“YOU started it now!”

Bella ran ahead, giggling like a maniac.

Stop 2:  Café

The pink-themed café Bella chose was called Sugarclouds — walls painted like cotton candy, chairs shaped like cupcakes, and a menu that looked like it had been designed by a unicorn on a sugar high.

The moment they walked in, all eyes turned to the six very tall, very handsome, very pink men escorting a three-year-old girl wearing a glittery tutu and a tiara.

They were met with gasps, whispers, and even some not-so-subtle photos.

“Don’t look,” Aris muttered, pulling his cap lower.

“Too late,” Lucas whispered. “I think we’re trending.”

“On what?” Enzo asked.

“Probably Pink Terror Squad Goes Viral,” Marco deadpanned.

Bella ran to the front counter and leaned over it, eyes sparkling. “I want a triple rainbow cupcake with strawberry rain and marshmallow clouds!”

The teenage barista blinked. “Uh… coming right up?”

The six brothers ordered too — mostly espresso shots to survive this adventure.

“Okay!” Bella announced once they had all gathered at a corner booth with pastel cushions. “We’re playing a game!”

“Of course we are,” Domino sighed.

“It’s called: Who Loves Bella the Most!”

Aris pinched the bridge of his nose. “This is a trap.”

Lucas leaned in confidently. “Obviously me. I make her laugh the most!”

“No way,” Enzo chimed in. “I help her sneak cookies at night.”

“I help her with her homework,” Marco added.

“I taught her how to punch,” Domino offered, dead serious.

“I told her bedtime stories,” Aris said simply.

Bella put a finger on her lips, thinking deeply.

Then: “I love you all the same.” She spread her arms dramatically. “Now feed me cupcakes.”

They obeyed instantly.

“You’re really going to make someone a spoiled empress one day,” Enzo whispered.

“She already is,” Aris replied with a faint smile.

Stop 3: Toy Store Mayhem

Next stop: the biggest toy store in town.

Bad idea.

“Lucas, I want the glitter cannon!”

“I’ll get it!”

“I saw it first!”

“You’re six feet tall, back away from the sparkle zone!”

Meanwhile, Bella was choosing between two identical dolls.

“Why not both?” Aris asked.

She gasped. “Can I?!”

He nodded and handed both to Domino.

Domino sighed. “We’re going to need another car for her doll collection.”

They bought stickers, storybooks, a plush unicorn, a fairy wand, and a full play tea set.

At the counter, the cashier blinked at the cart. “Birthday?”

Aris deadpanned. “No. This is just Sunday.”

The cashier blinked again. “...Right.”

Evening: Ice Cream and Sunset

As the sun began to lower, casting orange and pink shadows across the horizon, the brothers took Bella to the lakefront park. Fireflies were beginning to glow, and the water shimmered like a dream.

They sat on a wide blanket, eating ice cream from a small vendor nearby.

“Tell me a story,” Bella said, curling into Aris’s lap.

He thought for a moment. “Once upon a time, there was a little girl who was too beautiful, too clever, and too kind for this world.”

Bella smiled sleepily.

“She had five brave knights who protected her from dragons, bad dreams, and boys who gave flowers.”

“Even Adam?” she asked innocently.

Aris’s smile faded. “Especially Adam.”

Bella giggled, then yawned.

Enzo leaned down beside her. “Did you have fun, sunshine?”

“The bestest date ever,” she whispered.

Lucas whispered, “So we beat Adam?”

“You totally beat Adam.”

The boys exchanged high-fives.

As the sky darkened, the stars began to twinkle.

Marco laid back and said, “We should do this again.”

Marco groaned. “Next time someone else carries the stuffed unicorns.”

Leon came to escort them back to the car, watching the siblings with an odd fondness. Beside him stood the same mysterious male figure from earlier — arms crossed, jaw tense.

“She's safe,” Leon said quietly.

“I know,” the man replied. “But if Adam blinks at her again…”

“We’ll bury him,” Leon replied, completely serious.

They watched as the brothers loaded Bella into the car, her eyes already fluttering closed. She clutched her unicorn, tiara still perfectly tilted.

“Tell Mumma and Daddy everything,” she mumbled sleepily.

“We will,” Aris whispered.

And with that, the car drove back into the night, six brothers exhausted, glitter-coated, and smiling — because today, their princess had smiled more than ever.

And no kindergarten flirtation could ever come close to that.
